Parallel government
On 8 October 1943 the executive committee of the Liberation Front of the Slovene Nation launched a campaign to raise 50 million lira for the national liberation cause under the slogan “Everything for our army!”
Slovene Istria supplied the territory of the 7th Corps and the central leadership of the national liberation movement with a variety of technical material from Trieste and elsewhere, with salt from the saltworks of Istria, and with food and clothing and so on. The material was transported into the Brkini Hills and onwards by cart or carried on shoulders.
